📖 Teacher Pei-Yi’s Mirror Relationship Theory | Learning to Meet a Better Version of Yourself
One day, while leading a class at an after-school center, a third-grader asked me: "Auntie Pei-Yi, you're already so old, why are you still going to school?"
I was so happy that the child asked such an excellent question!
It gave me a perfect #ReasonToLearn for the children~~
"My dear, there are so many novel things in this world for you. That's why you have endless questions every day and games you want to play over and over. How old do you think you need to be to finish learning everything you want to know about this world?"
Looking at that young face, I was glad he saw an adult who is still learning, because that is vital for his own journey of lifelong learning.
Perhaps due to the exam culture, many children undergo six years of "arduous study" in middle and high school, which often drains their interest in learning. Consequently, after entering university or the workforce, they only attend classes when "forced by their company." Adults who lose their motivation to learn often spend class time scrolling through their phones. This not only limits their growth but also impacts work efficiency and, more importantly, leads to constant complaining and #LaggingBehindInKnowledge.
Regarding this topic, Teacher Pei-Yi researched reading and lifelong habits across different cultures and reached a conclusion: #AnAdultsLifestyleIsADirectBlueprintForAChildsFuture. If parents don't learn, they cannot blame their children for not studying; if parents spend their days scrolling on phones, it's no surprise if children hide in virtual worlds. If parents' lives aren't fulfilling, children won't learn how to manage a fulfilling life of their own.
▶ The logic is simple: it must be put into practice!
▶ Learning is for the sake of meeting a better version of yourself!
▶ Only you can decide what your future self looks like!
▶ Only by deciding to be better do you have the chance to actually become better.
Children are constantly learning from the lifestyle of adults. Adults can decide what kind of role models they want to be!
